Inspire Others to Achieve Their Full Potential

Meditation and its role in rehab

Physical Therapy

Meditation is the practice of turning your attention to single point of reference.

It can involve focusing on the breath, on bodily sensations, or on word or phrase known as a mantra. Many  highly successful people use daily meditation and attest to its importance in their life, including Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, Bill Gates, Will Smith. The benefits of meditation are highly supported by research and include:

  • Reducing Stress
  • Control Anxiety
  • reducing Depression
  • Enhancing Self-Awareness
  • Lengthening Attention Span
  • Helping To Fight Addiction
  • Improving Sleep
  • Helping to control Pain
  • Decreasing Blood Pressure

Other, lesser-known benefits of meditation include reducing obesity-related eating behaviors/assisting in weight loss and increasing inherent compassion while reducing aggression.

Like many other things in life worth the effort, meditation is not easy when you are starting out. But there are many apps and videos that can assist in the practice of meditation, including the app HeadSpace. This app has hundreds of videos for people of all experience levels to help them attain the true benefits of meditation. There are thousands of stressors in life that we may encounter each day and meditation  can be a powerful tool to handle them better.

“Meditation is a long journey, not a single insight or even several insights. It gets more and more profound as the days, months, and years pass. Keeping reading and thinking and meditating.”
– Dalai Lama
