At ProMet we provide care that is customized to the individual patient’s needs and each plan of care is adjusted as treatment progresses. However, on average, expect a visit to last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. You’ll be guided through a variety exercises and receive manual therapy among other services from your Physical Therapist.
What should I bring with me on my first visit?
- Your health insurance card(s)
- A government issued identification card [valid driver’s license, state issued ID, etc]

- Imaging reports if available [ MRI results, X ray, etc ]

What if I don’t have a prescription for physical therapy?
Unless your primary insurance is Medicare, you are allowed by law to receive physical therapy treatment for 10 visits or 30 calendar days (whichever occurs first) without a prescription from a physician. If Medicare is your primary insurance, you are required to have a prescription no older than 30 days.
Should you require extended therapy, visit your physician to request a prescription or we can refer you to one including some of the best specialists in the Tri-State area.
What should I wear?
You should dress comfortably as you are likely to be engaged in active exercise at some point during your treatment. Athletic type clothing such as sweatpants/shorts, t-shirt and sneakers are encouraged. Treatment generally includes soft tissue massage therefore heavy/bulky clothing may hinder our ability to reach the treatment areas.
Please wear any postoperative assistive devices that are prescribed to you by your physician such as braces, casts, walking boots, arm slings etc.
What insurances do you accept?

In most cases, insurance does cover your PT visits, but every individual plan is different. Call: (718) 554-6610 and one of our Patient Care Coordinators will verify your benefits, eligibility and explain your PT insurance coverage in detail.
