Dr. Katie Macias, DPT

Education: SUNY Downstate Health Science University

Hometown: Brooklyn, New York

Primary Location: Glendale, The Shops at Atlas Park

Katie’s journey to becoming a Physical Therapist began as a young teen after undergoing scoliosis surgery. Experiencing the recovery process firsthand — and recognizing how much more guidance and rehabilitation could have supported her at the time — sparked her curiosity about anatomy and the profound impact physical therapy can have on healing and long-term function. That experience, combined with her lifelong identity as an athlete, solidified her career path. As a former Division III women’s ice hockey player at SUNY Cortland, Katie developed a deep appreciation for movement, performance, and the resilience of the human body.

Katie is passionate about treating athletes of all levels and backgrounds, from competitive hockey players to recreational and youth athletes. She also enjoys working with post-operative patients, individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries, those with postural conditions, and anyone striving to move and feel better in their daily life. She prides herself on being a well-rounded clinician who is confident treating a wide variety of conditions.

Her approach to care is rooted in connection and individualized goal-setting. She takes time to understand each patient’s story and adapts her teaching style to match how they learn best. Known for her positive energy, patience, and genuine kindness, Katie creates an environment where patients feel comfortable, motivated, and supported — leaving therapy feeling confident, empowered, and prepared to continue their progress independently.
